Abstract:The work aims to explore the ontological theory construction of modern Chinese comics, especially by taking Feng Zikai's pieces as an example and dig out its artistic attributes, and try to summarize and outline some features of the ontological theory of modern Chinese comics, so as to provide theoretical support for the development of contemporary Chinese comics. By reviewing the development history of modern Chinese comics, the current status of comic theory research is sorted out and the shortcomings of current research are pointed out. Taking Feng Zikai's pieces as a specific case, the discussion is carried out from the aspects of graphic-text relationship and panel-frame symbols and the relationship between text and image, as well as the symbolic references of the frame in Feng Zikai's comics is analyzed. At the same time, the differences between Chinese and Western comics are compared to explore the unique artistic attributes of modern Chinese comics. Modern Chinese comics have artistic attributes such as generalized references, diverse social functions, and emphasis on graphic intertextuality, which are significantly different from Western comics. Text is a unique and important element in modern Chinese comics, and the attribute of literati painting is an important artistic characteristic of modern Chinese comics. With the advancement of science and technology, the form of comics has expanded, but its essential connotation still needs to be maintained. Contemporary Chinese comics should be based on clear self-knowledge, inheritance and continuation, in order to move steadily into the future.
